We are just beginning to finalise our plans for the postponed Abingdon Long Course Sprint (Saturday 15th August) and are looking to find helpers for set-up on the Friday afternoon (14th August), as well as those vital course marshals for the event itself.
Obvious concerns amongst our traditional volunteer force means we face reduced numbers, as some are still isolating, but we can assure everyone thal anti-covid 19 protocols will go far and beyond the recommended levels.
Electronic signing-on and video (zoom) briefings will reduce the risk of cross-infection with ample PPE available as required. At the moment, marshals will be carrying out an observatory role with any interaction with incidents covered by a Specialist Intervention Team.
In essence, its an arrive and supervise role, driving straight to your appointed post, settle in for the day (socially distanced as appropriate) and at the end simply into the car and back home.
We do however, need cautious control over attendees and we need to record in advance those who will be helping so that we can ensure all the Motorsport UK pre-event requirements are met.
Therefore, if you are able to attend and help us restart motor sport at Abingdon in a safe and efficient manner, we need you to visit www.abingdoncarnival.com to complete the short volunteer interest form on the front page.
It doesn't definitely commit you but at least we will have a method of asking you the question for both The Long Course Sprint and the Abingdon Motorsport CAR-nival just over a month later (26th / 27th September). ...
