Much more than ‘Hope’. This pub was an imminent danger of closing in 2010. However after some quick negotiation by a group of customers, they bought the lease and have been running it ever since. They’re just finishing off a refurb, so we think we can support the new investment works with a visit. Their list of awards speaks for itself:

“CAMRA Sutton Pub of the Year 2009 & 2010, CAMRA Croydon & Sutton Pub of the Year 2012,13,14,15,16,17&18 and CAMRA Greater London Pub of the Year 2012,13,16&17”

We’re down-the-pub with Richard Corney, a very long serving member of the club,  at the Hope, Carshalton on Tuesday 26th March from 8:30pm.

The Hope, 48 West Street, Carshalton,  Surrey, SM5 2PR

  • Social – No Bowling at Tolworth – Tues 26th Feb. 8pm.- Looks like it’s just Nigel and I for Bowling. That’ll be no competition, since I’ve now trapped a sciatic nerve and can’t throw anything anywhere. Let’s go down the pub instead. Dale
