Considered the most secluded Pub in Surrey, it has also won many awards for its food and local beer. To quote from their website:

The Tillingbourne Brewery opened its doors to discerning lovers of quality craft ale in December 2011. Based in the picturesque village of Shere in the Surrey Hills, with a deserved reputation for brewing the finest beer infused with hops of distinction, you’ll find their top quality craft ale on the pumps at the Langton.

Brewery co-owner and Langton resident Lee is proud to have such a traditional Surrey pub as the flagship for showcasing Tillingbourne Brewery’s real ales. ‘Hop Troll’, ‘AONB’, ‘Falls Gold’, ‘The Source’, ‘Summit’ (supporting the National Trust celebrating 250 years of Leith Hill) and ‘Black Troll’ are all award-winners in their own right and you’ll always find the latest new brew on tap at the Langton – something for every taste.

Currently on the pumps is ‘Dormouse’. A 3.8% traditional English bitter with a nutty & biscuity taste that has been brewed to support Surrey Wildlife Trust’s ‘Save the Dormouse’ project. With the largest population of dormice living behind the brewery it made perfect sense.

The postcode is RH5 6JR and their website is https://stephanlangton.pub/. See you on the 23rd.

As previously advertised in Spotlight, Sutton & Cheam Motor Club are looking at running a short trip across the water to watch and support Mark Bullen’s epic attempts in the French Off Road Championship.

The trip to Rallyes Touts-Terrain (near Le Havre in northern France) will launch from Folkestone Channel Tunnel around noon on Friday 2nd November.  Then, travelling via the Hotel (likely to be the Best Western Hotel just 12 miles from the Rally Base in Auchy les Hesdin) we will visit the pre-event scrutiny session and maybe a beer or two.

Dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel precedes a day of spectating at this most exciting off-road event where buggies, monster off-roaders and converted yet recognisable road cars all compete over the extremely fast, rough French countryside on courses similar to our rally stages. Visits to the Service Area are a must as in true French style, everyone stops for lunch which will be taken at a suitable time and place before further spectating until the light fades and dinner calls.

Next morning and after breakfast, it will be a third and final stint on the stages, lunch and then back to Eurotunnel Calais, arriving back in Folkestone around tea-time Sunday evening.

At present, the cost is likely to be around £135 per person for the 3 days including travel, fuel and accommodation.

Anybody interested should send an expression of interest by Sunday 30th September (email barrygcharlie@aol.com or davewhyman@hotmail.com) with a firm commitment needed shortly after (bookings for trains and hotels have to be made and paid for).

So please join us on what we hope may become an annual trip over the channel for an early winter dose of high octane action!

The time has come for ‘ICN ’18’. An evening of racing, rallying, classic and modern cars and a free barbecue. We’re looking forward to an evening of interesting cars, camaraderie and great food. See you there?

Find it on facebook here, Like it, share it, add your photos and click ‘going’.

Once again Guildford Tyres opens its depot for an exhibition of all things motoring. Chris and the team will be firing up the barbecue with locally sourced sausages and burgers. Food and drinks are on the house (only whilst stocks last).

    Guildford Tyre Company is at:

All members and non-members are welcome. Bring along an interesting car, or just come along and join us, chat to the owners, and see the display.

We’ve moved it to August so it’ll hopefully be warmer and dryer. We’re promising to practice being better parking attendants this year too. Last year saw about 70 cars and 200 or more visitors. It ranged from an 1899 Sims to the latest 750hp Tesla and the biggest two door car we’ve ever seen (at 19′ long!)

We’ll be inviting Tesla again, and hopefully they’ll be offering the usual passenger rides. 2.8seconds to 60mph is quite something in an electric car.

Tell us you’ll be there and what you’ll bring, if anything, feel free to be an interested visitor. The time has come for ‘ICN ’18’.
